French-Swedish Seminar on High Speed Rail in the future
The French-Swedish expert seminar on High Speed Lines (HSL), an initiative proposed by Swedish and French Ministers Tomas ENEROTH and Elisabeth BORNE in Gothenburg in June 2018 in order to implement the French-Swedish Strategic Partnership for innovation and green solutions in the transport sector, will take place in Stockholm on 24-25 January.
The President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and the Prime minister of Sweden Stefan Löfven decided to join forces and to sign, on 17/11/2017 in Gothenburg, a far-reaching and ambitious strategic partnership for innovation and green solutions. This partnership structures the bilateral relationship and plays a key role in advocating for the greening of economies at national, European and global level, and in helping both countries to fulfill the SDGs. Four areas of action are included in the partnership: “Green transport, clean energy and smart cities”, “Green finance”, “Digital transformation, smart industry and start-ups” and “Health and life sciences innovation”.
The French-Swedish expert seminar on High Speed Lines (HSL) is organised within that frame by the Swedish Transport Administration Trafikverket and the Regional Economic Department of the French Embassy in Stockholm on 24-25 January. More than 30 experts representing public and private-sector organisations from France (French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, General Directorate for Infrastructure, Transport and the Sea, SNCF Mobilités, SNCF Réseau, Alstom, Ansaldo, Eiffage, Systra, etc.) and from Sweden (Swedish Ministry of Infrastructure, Trafikverket, SJ, Swedtrain, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Trivector, etc.) will foster exchanges of experience on High Speed Lines projects and taking into account French expertise in this field.
The seminar will put High Speed Lines in a strategic long term perspective (from an environmental, economic, logistic, financial and technological point of view), compared with other modes/types of transportation. The seminar will be structured around the following five panel discussions, highlighting the sector’s latest developments and innovations:
- Status of High Speed Rail in France
- Status of High Speed Rail in Sweden
- International outlook – Projects in Morocco, UK, etc.
- Development and innovation for High speed Rail
- The future of mobility: what’s next (Hyperloop, Maglev, autonomous cars)?
