Jacques Lapouge is the French Ambassador to Sweden since October 2nd 2014.


Ambassador Lapouge was born on October 13th 1957. He is a graduate from ESSEC (Higher School for Commercial and Economic Sciences) and from ENA (National School of Administration).

He started his diplomatic career in Addis-Ababa, then spent a few years in the EU department in Paris. After a posting to the UN mission in New York, he was appointed deputy director of the UN Department in the ministry, and then minister-counsellor in Tokyo.

In 1999, Mr Lapouge became European advisor to the President of the Republic, and then Ambassador to Malaysia from 2002 to 2005. He returned to Paris in 2005 as Director for Economic and Financial Affairs and was appointed in 2007 as Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Ambassador to South Africa from 2009 to 2012, he was then Ambassador for climate change negotiations from January 2013 until the summer 2014.
